The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) announced today that it will award $1,751,726 in federal Non-Profit Security Grants (NPSG) to local not-for-profit organizations throughout Maryland. These grants, which originate from the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (DHS/FEMA), fund ‘specific statutory eligible costs to include target hardening and other security enhancements and activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack.’

DHS/FEMA will announce their intention to release the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the 2020 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) in early 2020. The announcement is being sent in an effort to assist potential sub-recipients with preparing for the application process. The amount of funding available in NPSG in the Fiscal Year 2020 has not been officially released yet. In Fiscal Year 2019, there were $60,000,000 in NPSG funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements and activities to eligible nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attack.
The Maryland Emergency Management Agency will notify the public when the NOFO is released and will provide guidance and technical assistance to potential sub-recipients throughout the process.
