THE SCENARIO:
A small health clinic with ten exam rooms needed an intercom. They wanted patients, nurses, and doctors in any of the exam rooms to have the ability to call for assistance. Each exam room intercom station needed to call both the main nurse station and the receptionist station simultaneously.
The clinic has a primary entrance used by staff, patients, and for deliveries. This door is locked to control the number of patients in the waiting area. When a patient, or anyone else would arrive, they needed a way to call the receptionist for entry. Management also knew, in order to have a more secure facility, their receptionist needed a way to verify patient appointments and determine if visitors could enter the waiting area.
THE SOLUTION:
Calling and communication was easily accomplished by installing a paging speaker, a handset intercom, and a touchless call sensor into each exam room. Interior master stations at the nurse and reception desks allowed staff at either location to answer calls, as well as communicate between the two areas.
A video door station with a built‑in sensor was installed at the primary entrance. It allowed anyone to call for access without having to touch the intercom. Staff could then clearly identify visitors and unlock the door directly from the interior stations.
