Many locksmiths are expanding their commercial operations and getting into the installation of low-voltage security equipment, including video intercoms. It makes sense as video intercoms protect building entries, something locksmiths have been doing for generations.
I recently had a locksmith tell me, “If it’s on a door, we can handle it.” I’m sure that’s true. Security dealers and integrators must be in agreement, as many of them are partnering with locksmiths to install Aiphone systems.
So, why are some locksmiths still hesitant about getting into the low-voltage side of the security industry? In most cases, it’s unfamiliarity with the technology and the fear of having problems while on a job site.
